I got hope about this song!
Bouncy, sing-along chorus. Relevant and uplifting lyrics. Beautiful harmonies. Interesting percussion and great arrangement. This song made me feel good, I wanted to put on my dancing shoes and dance down the sidewalk singing this song. I could imagine this to be a great song to sing around a campfire...

Kingston Trio
I really dig this tune. Upbeat and fell good. I got Hope that this song will do well. Im usually not a fan of war/political songs, but this really hit my soul. I think we need more songs like this, HOPE is such a good word to use in times like these. Great Job and thanks for reminding me that there is still hope in the world.

Cheers!

Hope for a better World
Love the sentiment of the song. Love the crank.
Vocals are good, could be better with more emotion though. Well mixed and even though I love the crank it might fit in better with some reverb or delay.

Review
The vocals is very goo
d...seems old voices of folk. The instruments are a little confused. The acoustic guitar can get clear when the others instruments stop.
- pvieiraneto from Brazil on 9Mar2010

Hope
Uplifting song. Co
nfident and groovy sound. This political a voice will appeal to a certain crowd; the message is good and the song is strong. Love the harmony and percussion elements.

folk rock
pretty powerful words, i like the chorus when it kicks in its a good positive vibe, kind of reminds me of a kids song musicaly!

Unique vocals
Lyrics snagged me right away. This is like a 60's anti-war anthem. Wording is really clever, though (
"I reckon I-ran"). Chorus is catchy and I like the jangly backing rhythm, bringing it back down to a light rhythm on the verses.

Not sure about that spinner noise during the choruses! It was wacky and the song is plenty folksy without it. Gotta take that out or push it back a bit in the mix so it's not so distracting.

The vocals were well done and the overall mix (besides the spinner) was nicely balanced. Intriguing song with good sense of movement. Nice work.

review
Good voice, and you get right to the song, which is nice.

Like the vocals, and really like the lyrics. Very catchy!!

What to work on:

Guitar is great, so don't change it! The drums are a little to distant in the mix, bring them up some. Also, add a heavier bass in the song.

Good job
- ss7atm from None, Arkansas on 21Jan2010

Nice
Nice Dylan vibe off the bat. The vocal delivery is very old school folk. The chorus goes a totally different way, gets very poppy, with the swirl percussion and loose live sounding harmonies. The electric guitar sounds DI-ed, but it sounds good, and fits in perfect with the sort of mix this song is trying to achieve. Uplifting song, very nice.

Harmonizing is good
This is not exactly my st
yle but it made me wanna dance while I was listening to this song. I guess somehow the band is inspired by Bob Dylan (in some passages but I wouldn't say in the whole). The vocals are good, especially the harmonizations ( is it this the right word in english??) and in the whole the song is really well played and arranged. Good!!

cooooool
Wicked feeling i
n the lyrics, powerful message. Really nice harmonies before the chorus, nice rhyming scheme still keeping the content relative. Really catchy chorus as well, Reminiscent of an American Billy Bragg. nice simple structure keeps the message coming through without pulling focus from what they have to say. very impressed with the lyrics.

Go country
I'm not a big fan of the singing until the chorus. I like the idea of this song better than the song itself, but I think there's some potential for it. I'd suggest trying to tighten up the lyrics to make them easier to sing with a melody. I can almost see it going a little country, bring up the twang and it would work better in that genre.
- gtrplayer1010 from Charlotte, North Carolina on 13Nov2009

Howdy Raffi!
I like this tune but
the lyrics are heavy. Uplifting but you need to sit through some graphic verses.

Very Jimmy Buffet at first ...
...then it turns into the Kingston Trio.

It's nice to hear this ... a genuine folk/protest song. I thought they'd died out 40 years ago and were memorialized by that movie "A mighty Wind"..

I can tell that the writer knows what a chorus is and how to write catchy ones.

I also find the arrangement to be appropriate and engaging as well as the subject matter.

Bravo for writing a good song with a message. If you mean it or not, it's a sentiment I agree with.

Plus it's got a beat and you can dance to it.

Four stars.

Saving the world
Recording is clean and the mix was good. Musicianship is adequate. The vocalist sang the song fairly well and their was a small element of passion in his voice. I would have liked to hear a little more vocal emotion/passion considering that the world is on the line. The lyrics were solid and told a story. Also, the song had a sing along type hook that was pretty good, but not special. The melody line to the song is very simple and thats not bad. However, I would have liked to hear just a little something extra (another instrument, etc..)on the arrangement side to bolster the chorus, etc so that it would dynamically peak. Also, I see this as a straight folk song and not a folk rock song. Much more Peter, Paul and Mary than Neil Young.

Beer drinking song without beer.
If your gonna write a feel good song don't bring up Iraq and Afghanistan. People listen to music to get away from cnn.

Said straight
To the point , with a message of a common time. We all can relate. It's about hope. Nice percussion.
- XBAGHAT from Newhall, California on 21May2009

Great upbeat Irish folk
The hook is just fantastic. The verses are cool. The vocal performance is excellent. Good arrangement and mix. Nice song all round.
- johnmiles from Boone, North Carolina on 9May2009

Great Hook
This song has a 900 lb. gorilla of a hook...this hook is so strong that I guarantee I'll be walking around singing this for weeks.
You sound like you might have jumped in a time machine in 1960..and traveled forward to entertain the future. You could be the Chad Mitchell Trio or those guys who sang "Tom Dooley". Your sound is pure acoustic folk right down to the hopeful message and the simple, clean, direct, effective hook.
- daveyngr from Pine Grove, California on 27Apr2009

True Folk
This is Pete Seegar style folk. Nice vocals through out, good feeling stuff sounds very warm and down to earth
- petemancuso from Cary, Illinois on 29Mar2009

Where is the originality?
I like what you are trying to say here I am just not much a fan of the music. Very bland chord structure and performance. I hate the percussion instrument that keeps periodically coming in. It sounds so out of place. The lyrics are very bland and predictable. Overall this song just doesn't do it for me. Sorry.
- RobbyParsons from Elm Grove, West Virginia on 21Mar2009

Good mood
Mood is good here. Since I like Bob Dylan and CCR, this is for my taste. That guiro sound is cool! This is kind of music you listen while driving long distances. Road music in bit of 70's style, which is always a good thing.
- thecaravansarai from Finland on 16Mar2009

Raping Common Sense
Did I hear the lyric "raping common sense"? I don't know what it means but I like it. This song has a nice message. Singer has a unique, optimistic voice. Upbeat tempo works well with hopeful lyrical content. Love the rattle snake sound (don't know what the percussive instrument is called) but it adds a playful quality to the track. Very uplifting stuff!
- copperkid from Canada on 5Mar2009

Pro Production?
Maybe it's just me, but I think the song is produced really well. Everything is very crisp, from the bongos to the backing vocals! A few too many of those "spinny" noises, but that's just an opinion. Fun, upbeat song with a fun, upbeat message (even though the first verse is rather strong)
Song/lyrics stayed on track throughout...thumbs up!
Constructive Criticism - overall it is a nice little song, but I think a "middle eight", if done correctly, would make it even better.
- Erlstn from Wayland, Michigan on 5Mar2009

Upbeat
You jumped in on this song really fast. I would of liked an intro. It's for sure a throwback sound going on. An old time folk feel with some updated lyrics and upbeat tempo. I like the electric guitar doing that little thing at the beginning of the verses. I don't care to much for the percussive thing you're doing. I can't even tell what it is exactly but I'd drop that out. Lead vocal is good and the production and mix are okay. It's demo quality. The lyrics are positive and fit the mood of the music well. The best thing about this song is the upbeat mood. Good job..
- MusicJohn from Atlanta, Georgia on 4Mar2009

Fun song. Got hope?
Nice bright acoustic guitar sound. Good vocals. Harmony is spot on. Nice to hear a positive message concerning this issue, too. I'd like to hear this song backed by a drum kit. It may be there, but if so it's way too soft. I like the build up with the electric guitar at the chorus.
- Limitman from Morton, Illinois on 17Feb2009

catchy feel
tell it like it is with a bouncy little melody and message.we all got hope and i like the way you tell it brother.
- Solepoets from Plano, Texas on 28Jan2009

I got hope!
Really catchy chorus, partner!

A song with a political message but still a lot of happiness in the melody.
I think this sounds really good, nice vocals and well-played guitars.Keep it up!

- tony66 from Coral Gables, Florida on 11Jan2009

I got hope!
uplifting lyrics and a quirky vibe, like the sarcastic side of the lyrics as well. I think that it's funny how the 60s have come back around. This is a 60s hippie revival, peace song and it's pretty cool!
- jonroniger from Nashville, Tennessee on 10Jan2009

NICE
I really enjoyed the feel and mood of this track. Very honest groove. Nice play on words. Keep playing out and recording. Thumbs up !!!
- MusicMoney21 from Unspecified on 3Dec2008

great work
The chorus has a classic folk song feel in the vein of "If I had a Hammer". I'm glad somebody is writing songs with some political content and some hope. The melody is catchy. Great work.
