Unknown man nice country song Ok, I really don't like country music at all. Anyways, backing vocals are very good, music arragements are classicly ok, violin perfect, male voice is something you should work on, sounds too basic the vocal line and a bit boring, I can't feel the emotion from the song. - AgustinaAndreaC from Santiago, Metropolitana, Chile on 9Dec2008 nice love the vox and the production on the song its a really catchy song ya have here lol nice old feeling to it - sparethelegion from Aurora, Colorado on 23Nov2008 in my head I love the jump feel of the rhythm and the music...sounds interesting and different...like a lost Ringo tune...I enjoyed the listening of this mover...lyrics were nice and the vocal was enticing...thank you! - ieatwheelchairs from Halls, Tennessee on 23Nov2008 GOOD` I think the song is great. The vocals are in key, the groove is nice. The only thing i recommend is to tighten up the timing. IE make sure all the instruments hit their note at the same time. But maybe you were going for the loose style, Overall good song, I enjoyed it - SmallWall from Madbury, New Hampshire on 15Nov2008 Very Nice Good country feel, with nice banjo playing. Good harmonising too. Not normally what id go for but i enjoyed it and i can appreciate why someone would really like this track. Wouldnt go amiss on the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. - edd_garratt from London, United Kingdom on 10Nov2008 Wonderful..... Nice call and response with the lead vocal and the banjo. Fiddle and harmonies are spot on. I just love the stuff....5 stars.....good work!!! - dragger99 from Cobb Mountain, California on 6Nov2008 no news way,way too typical writer needs to listen to more music, this sounds much too derivitive no hook to be found....anywhere - offaxisdude from Baton Rouge, Louisiana on 31Oct2008 I like it.. You have a nice little hook on that banjo. I like all the instrumentation on this song. The mix is pretty good. You have your vocal out front. Nice fiddle solo. The first thing that comes to mind here is this song has a kind of throwback feel to it. It's Americana that's for sure. You have a raw sound going on here. It feels like just a bunch of guys playing at the church social. Nothing wrong with that. Feel good music is how I'd describe it. The tempo is just right and foot stomping. Makes you want to do a jig. The lyrics are pretty good. Well thought out and catchy. High points are the fiddle and banjo riff. The lead vocal goes very well with this type of music. Over all it's just darn fun. Nice job and good luck with your song.. - MusicJohn from Atlanta, Georgia on 28Oct2008 down home! Great sounding band. The instrumentation is very well done. Beautiful mix of fiddle, banjo, bass and drums. Great harmonies! Though the lead voc is a bit weak - not much range or "feeling". The chord progression along with the banjo call-back lick on the verses gets a little monotonous after awhile. Although that could make it infectious after a few listens. When this big harmonies come it it's a highlight! The songwriting and arrangement itself is pretty standard. Nothing really new or innovative but well done nonetheless. - LenCat from Mountain View, California on 22Oct2008 country? americana music is only a label, i know this. unfortunately it really seems to mean, modern recordings of people acting like they are living in a time 40 years gone. this is not groundbreaking and is a recreation. bland and not interesting. - elliottm76 from Buhl, Alabama on 5Oct2008 Rollicking Good Song This song reminds me of the Kingston Trio, especially the vocals. However, I don't like the simplistic repeating banjo riff. I think the banjo part would sound a lot better if it were replaced by bluegrass-style rollng fingerpicking and let the fiddle take over the lead. And the lead needs to be something other than that particuar riff - it's annoying. The drum part is not quite right, either. I would have the drummer use the same beat he would use if he were playing the "Orange Blossom Special" and see if that generates more excitement. Thia is actually a good song with a lot of potential, but it needs more work. - Kathy_N56 from Dallas, Texas on 3Oct2008 banjo I love the banjo and violin in this song! the recording quality is very good. - nopictures2002 from Payson, Utah on 2Oct2008 Great western tune This is a classic western tune. What killer vocals along with the harmonies it sets a very lighthearted mood. The vocals fit the guitar and percussion nicely. The mix is very good. It's a fun song that is easy to listen too - hwp314 from Gainesville, Georgia on 29Sep2008 Ringo This has a great feel, like Ringo meets Nashville. Not sure what else to say--got such an unorthodox feel to it. Keep on! - projectlucas from Ok City, Oklahoma on 26Sep2008 B musicianship = A+ Harmonies = A+ Production = C this sounds like something that might have added to a early 1970's disney movie. Apple Dumpling Gang. now theres a new band name for you. the song is very fun. The production could be greatly improved and there you go. Overall song is a B. - DPSTANLEY from Racoon City, Minnesota on 26Sep2008 Vermin in my head? I like the sound of that banjo line, it has a catchy little riff to work with. Being a white boy from Iowa I can appreciate not only the down home instruments used but also the working man blues of the lyrics. Simple, honest men need only simple, honest words. "Got a vermin in my head?" Is that the line? Great hook, in fact this song is really full of good hooks from the banjo hook line, the obvious hook of the vermin line, and the overall joy of the mood created by this tune. It utilizes a sparse arrangement of banjo, acoustic guitar, bass and drums to accompany the singer which would fit in with country, folk, bluegrass genres. Great honest sound to his voice. The second listen just reinforced my original feelings of this tune. The upbeat tempo and the instrumental motifs combine for a happy listening experience. - triptofan from Foggy Valley, Iowa on 22Sep2008 Beneath the Lightness Lies a Damn Good Song I like this song because it is ld timey and the harmonies are very good. Some might call this song cornball but i don't care, it's good. And if the melody is good, then that's all i care about. The violin is a great addition. Great job. I hope that reviewers really listen to this song and don't dismiss it as lightweight, because underneath this "lightweight feel" are talented musicians. 4 stars. bumpkin - BumpkinStrikes from Irving, Texas on 18Sep2008 A Pint of the Stout Please I gotta say that I have listened to this song a few times before. I think it was track of the day or something. So, although I am not hearing it with virgin ears, I still like how it comes off. The beat has a sloppy Celtic swagger that gives it some nice "smoky pub in a small town" feel. I picture hard working, grubby men swapping stories over a draft of dark beer when I hear this kind of song. I appreciate the way the drums were used, sparingly but not boring. The drums kept the song from getting bogged down and overly folky. The vocal has a backwater, European accent that gives the song some street credibility and the rich timbre of the voice adds to the emotional impact. I know that the band is from a foreign country, but a bit better diction would help a lot. The lyrics get muddied up some times. The bass underpinned the progression with a one-five bass line and it worked out very well. The bass line had just enough fills and walks to keep it interesting without getting too carried away. Mostly, I liked the way the fiddle sewed the whole thing together, by weaving in and around the progression. Some fiddle players get repetitious but not in this case. Again, the mood was established and held very well. So, even though you're not from around here, I think this is a pretty good song. Good job. - farmerted from Valley Center, California on 17Sep2008 good concept funny little song but it sounds more like country music to me. the sound should be more compressed in my opinion. it's more like a demo at the moment. - info1810 from Switzerland on 17Sep2008 Rocket Man This is Sweden's Roger and the Rockets - I know that because I purchased their album on-line after hearing their fantastic song, "Praise the Lord" on Garageband. Sometimes it takes someone from Europe to show us how Americana is done, right? Just like "Praise the Lord", this song also deploys banjo and fiddle in a very tasteful manner. Roger again demonstrates his ability to write a great hook. Lead and backing harmony vocals are outstanding: he sounds like Dylan singing Irish drinking songs! Percussion is crisp and clean and gives a Bavarian feel. Bass pumping out the fifths works magically with the drums: setting a perfect beerhaus mood. This song is fine on its own merit, but, to me, it's the B-side to "Praise the Lord" which is my favorite Garageband song of all time. You have earned a bunch of awards again! Great work! - AndrewKowal from Southampton, Massachusetts on 15Sep2008
