Wedding day Strong Musicianship Overall a well constructed and well played tune. Sounds like something from Cape Breton if you know that area of Canada. Musically, all of the parts are very well done and professional. All parts clean and simple, and good timing. I found the violin work very nice. The melody was a bit bland for me, but there were some interesting timing changes which added some dynamics to change things up. Lyrics were good, especially liked the phrasing around alcoo-hole. Production was good, no comments. Overall, a well written and played song. I wouldn't count it as one that I would listen to again but still a very good effort. - PeteSchell from Scarsdale, New York on 20Feb2009 great texture and production Catchy melody and old school feel. the harmonies are beautiful. instrumentation is tight and well put together. Adding some reverb to the vocal would open up the texture a little. over all it's well written, play and produced. - Salsman from Portland, Oregon on 16Feb2009 Foot--tapper Take me back to that Irish bar kind of sound. Foot tappin' let's dance a jig and sing along. Good overall production and mood. Has a free spirit feel to it. - jamsaungs from Tulsa, Oklahoma on 12Feb2009 Almost sounds like Irish Country Hmmm.. Good Glaser Bros. type harmony.. first thing that brought me in The recording of the voice is pretty funky.. It sounds like a good performance but I'm having trouble understanding the lyrics. The vocal sounds like a good performance.. The band track is adequate.. decent fiddle solo.. and I do like the "Lick" on the intro Keep up the good work - Bassace1232674 from Valparaiso, Florida on 11Feb2009 folksey well, I like this song, has a good vibe to it, everything seems in its proper place, I like the recording and even the harmonies, the back ups and the fiddle, strong solid bass, I would maybe up the tempo but this is a nice song, as is, but in this genre it is a bit predictable - evrdman from Bakersfield Ca., Usa, California on 7Feb2009 From The Mountain! I loved this track. Great production and really great delivery. All the instruments are played well and the harmonies are lush and together. This really reminds me of Sam Bush and that's a good thing. I also love the fact that you got Soul and Alcohol to rhyme. I love creative lyrics and this was a really well done song! - ddeleaumont from Atlanta, Georgia on 7Feb2009 Wedding day I particularly like the violin/fiddle component. It is played smoothly and masterfully. The harmonies are good. However, not sure if I will remember this track. Needs some sparkle and diversity. Overall not a bad track at all though. - ewash from Liberty, New York on 6Feb2009 Nice harmonies This reminds me of old country. (George Jones etc.) The mandolin is nice but a little too loud in the mix. The harmonies are a nice change during the chorus. I really like how the song builds... it keeps it intresting. - burningbushmngmnt from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 2Feb2009 refreshing not much i can say bad about this song. the harmonies are very good. the recording is of high quality. i like it - Jimduke from Wilmington, Delaware on 22Jan2009 I saw the Amish raise a barn when I heard thi.. Thank you! You got in there fast and when I was just about to sing along with the chorus the song was over. Excellent. I could listen to it again and again and probably will, seeing as I'm adding it to my list. I could also listen to it over and over again to try and figure out what the words are. The whole vibe of the song told me not to worry, that the lyrics were just fine. But, I'd like to know that first hand. You have a vocalist better or at least more original than I've heard in AGES. DON'T FREAKING BURY HIM OR THE WORDS UNDER THE MUSICAL ONSLAUGHT. I can't like what I can't understand. Be proud of the vocals and lyrics and put them out front, otherwise your only gigs will be at barn raisings where they like their fiddle music loud - toffee37 from Ojai, California on 15Jan2009 Authentic old Americana Nice production sound. Good musicianship. Vocs fit the music style. Drums are too far back in the mix (I think I'm hearing a bass drum there, no?) Nice fiddle playing.. - vidsid from Boulder, Colorado on 8Jan2009 listen quick plain and simple, it's a plain and simple--sounding--tune. my toes were tapping right from the start. nice fiddle break. this sounds like the real deal. there's a lot of phony stuff here in the americana section, but i could imagine you guys playing under a tree on any summer afternoon and a field full of people dancing. maybe a weeding day reception? - snorko from South Hollywood, California on 7Jan2009 cool song reminds me of Bob Dylan....nice song with good lyrics...simple song with good music and musicians - tammied2006 from Clemmons, North Carolina on 31Dec2008 Well mixed and recorded.. Strong trad style bass thumper. Like your voice and dig the lyrics as well. Very pub driven (UK?) and the fiddle is perfectly on pitch and well played. Really good track, folks. - Joel94 from Frenchtown, New Jersey on 27Dec2008 I like the song but what is he saying? I liked the vocals and I liked the song itself but it was hard to understand what he was saying other than on the wedding day-dug the violins overall I liked it and the enunciation got better as the song went on-good job - VioletVicious from Chicago, Illinois on 27Dec2008 much enjoyed Very nice opening I like the movement & flow to this simple tune it works very well The vocals are excellent its mixed very well and is a perfect length the fiddle parts add some variety a well constructed tune much enjoyed - springtao from Emerald Coast, Florida on 24Dec2008 Genre-Appropriate Well suited to the Americana genre. Nice dry vocal sound. I might have a shorter intro, but otherwise pretty darn good. - fingerpicker from Redlands, Queensland, Australia on 22Dec2008 Brilliant Sound The basic sound and mix of this track is awesome. The vocals are crystal clear and the guitar fiddle and bass are perfectly placed. The vocal is well sung and also the lyric well crafted. Ths harmonies simply blow me away and I really like the whole effect.Great job! A big thumbs up from me. - laurencegien from Augsburg, Germany on 19Dec2008 Good place for the Tamborne Good feel - I like the song - you have a unique and strong voice. I wish I could hear the bass and rhythm a bit more. I feel it's hidden underneath the guitar. Beautiful fiddle work. Seasoned musicians - sounds confident and positive. Great feel - would love to hear you live. Tight harmonies - good song, good band - period. - hakserskash from Athens, Georgia on 19Dec2008 great lyle lovett feel! loving the string band/folk feeling. WOW! Harmonies at :47 seconds in the song...i love hearing great harmonies, great job on that. the fiddle coming in at 1:08 is so smooth and soulful it makes me wanna grab up some lil' lady and start some belly rubbin' on the dancefloor. great groove through the whole tune my foot would not stop tapping. the chops to end the song where great as well. please keep up the good work. can't wait to hear some more from you great folks. - jfenwick82 from Fort Smith, Arkansas on 12Dec2008 Meet Roger and the Rockets! It's hard to review this because I am already a big fan of Roger and the Rockets, of Sweden. I have purchased their CD and have their material in my iPod. I encourage all of you to do this too! Go to CDbaby and buy now! Roger and the Rockets have the most authentic Americana sound on garageband, and, of course, they are not American! Today's song, Wedding Day, is a beautiful composition that on the surface is a happy mandy and fiddle song about maritial bliss but below the surface lies Roger's usual sardonic wit: "our love was grinded down, on the marital battle ground." Great lyric writing, A+ playing, nice production. A great work from a marvelous Americana performer. Go get'em! - AndrewKowal from Southampton, Massachusetts on 7Dec2008 |
