Crash &burn nice harmonies The lyrics good and harmonies are very strong and although a familiar formula, its done very well and has its own unique flavor. A very traditional sounding melody with very nice performances on all instruments. Reminds me of traditional bluegrass mixed with folk and is pretty unique sounding but I am not very familiar with this style of music though. Nice work. - bigwave1 from Gainesville, Florida on 12Mar2010 tra Credit: Male Vocals, Production, Melody. Stern but patient Nice mixture of guitars and banjos and possibly other instruments at the beginning. I really like the vocal style at the beginning- stern but patient- and the harmonies are great. Really, really good. I like it a lot, I would only suggest that be at least one sort of change in dynamics or style or rhythm to keep things interesting and not repetitive. Really like it though. - markpwebb from College Hill, Ohio on 6Mar2010 Yes, Yes Excellent melody, voice, and chorus. - editor50 from Millers Creek, North Carolina on 26Feb2010 Extra Credit: Guitars, Production, Melody, Beat, Most Rocking Track. Country mix Really liked the intro. You got me interested right away. I liked the lead vocals voice although sometimes the lyrics were difficult to understand. Really liked the harmony between instruments and the leads during the break. - msgjsheets from Muncy, Pennsylvania on 25Feb2010 Nice harmonies Great harmonies on this one. There is something familiar with this song. Like maybe I've heard it many times. Not sure that's a good thing. Lyrics are really good. The melody is as well. But there are a lot of really good bluegrass bands out there and the musicianship of this bands need to step it up to match those acts. There is an english band that sounds like you guys. Their name escapes me at the moment. - madhatter45 from Unspecified on 16Feb2010 Great Great old timey feel. Makes me wanna get the mule out of the barn and plant some taters. Lyrics are coherent and creative. The melody is awesome. You sound like the Carter Sisters. - worldatwar from Lawrence, Kansas on 13Feb2010 An Irish folk feel Nice tune. The harmonies could use some work. Sounds a lot like a 100 other bluegrass songs I've heard. Might be a good idea to take it in another direction. Still, a very entertaining tune. Nice job. - dannydutch from Wilkesboro, North Carolina on 13Feb2010 Extra Credit: Lyrics. nice bluegrass type sound guitars and other instruments work well together. mandolin and dobro add some nice texture. good sort of bluegrass combo going on. vocals are average. lyrics are maybe a little above average. they don't jump out at me, but there are some pretty good lines here and there. I like the melody, it's pretty traditional. - paulmd from Germany on 28Jan2010 burn tight folk ensemble with mandolin and dobro playing a significant part. Lyrics carried by a downbeat tune. Vocals to match and some nice harmony later in the song. some nice lead mandolin about 2 minutes in which roots it in 20th century folk territory. Hopefully these boys have listened to some Dubliners in their time. An excellent piece of work. - McGinley from Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom on 11Jan2010 Extra Credit: Mood. Crash and burn Excellent playing on this track. The singer does a fine job with very cool harmonies on the chorus. The production is just right and is well recorded. A fine song, well done. - patwheeler from London, United Kingdom on 10Jan2010 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Production, Lyrics, Melody, Beat. dusty and classic Love the intro and the feeling of the song. The instrumentation is spot on. The fiddle and banjo really set the scene for a dusty movie. Great tune. Good work from talented musicians. - Vestergaard from Aarhus, Denmark on 6Jan2010 OMG OMG, this song just sucked me in. I love the guitars, mandoline, the soulful singing, spot on back-up vocals and the Johnny Cash/Nancy Griffith lyrics. Reminds me a bit of John Pryne, Norman Blake, Townes Van Zandt, Loudan Wainwright all rolled into one. Such an intensely satisfying sound. - a_rock from Kansas City, Missouri on 4Jan2010 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Production, Lyrics, Melody. strong and dark The lyrics seem like a warning but also convey a sense of inevitibilty. I'd like to hear a little more melodic change through the course of the song. The track has a very natural and classic American roots sound. - BootlegPreacher from Memphis, Tennessee on 28Dec2009 nice I like the instant comfort I feel when this starts. Vocals are strong, and to my ear are not American? Nice to hear something different though. Lyrics draw me in, I want to hear the story. Melody is nice and doesn't try too hard. Keep on truckin' - GhostTongue from New York on 7Dec2009 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Female Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Production, Lyrics, Melody, Mood, Originality. Great song I love the feel of this track. All of the instruments are well played and well representative of the style. Very good mix as well. Good placement in the sound field. Very nice hook in the chorus. - jackbuddha2002 from Unspecified on 2Dec2009 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Production, Melody, Mood. good band Nice accoustic arrangement with a nice slide/dobro bit. Quite a professional writing effort..nothing amateurish here. The vocals are nice with strong harmonies. Reminds me of what I might hear on a good indy channel. Good job. i'd listen to this band. - bigbillhaywood1 from Anytown, Limburg on 29Nov2009 Extra Credit: Mood. Obvious Talent Abounds This track starts with a short strong intro and gets better. The guitar and mandoline combination with the lead guitar is beautifully mixed. Sounds like a traditional Appalachian folk song with a strong vocalist whose performance is enhanced by clean production. Talent here is obvious on this well executed song. - steven_fedrick from Mansfield, Texas on 24Nov2009 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Programming, Production. review good sound... great musicianship. harmonies are right on. pickers are right on. vox are nice. lyrics are better than most of what i've heard so far... not too cliche, and meaningful. good song - fiveslumprecord from Ft. Worth, Texas on 23Nov2009 cool song The band is great! Chorus melody is stronger then the verse, I think the backing vocals add great depth to chorus too. - dianacatherinemusic from Canada on 22Nov2009 Good Song! Very nice work on the lyrics. They have a good flow and are very deep. The hook is good. The melody is pleasing and catchy. The lead and background vocals sound good. I really enjoyed the mandoline. The mix sounds gound. - skeeboknight from Macon, Georgia on 22Nov2009 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Lyrics, Mood, Best Potential Movie Soundtrack. Vintage sound Nice melodies in the intro. The song has a very nice resemblance with classical folk tunes that I like, is like a "odl style". The melody in the chorus is too very atractive. The fact of use a mandolin for the solo is really a good idea. Good song. - Mrzurdillo from Málaga, Spain on 19Nov2009 Good Sound Dig the sound a lot!! The lyrics are good on the whole but at times seems sophmoric. I'm not sure who you guys sound like but it works so run with it. Maybe a little Blue Mountain? Thats as close as I can get. - PanchoyLefty from Erlanger, Kentucky on 18Nov2009 Extra Credit: Guitars, Production, Most Rocking Track. Crash and Burn Nice folky, blue-grassy instrumentation. Good harmonies. Nice mix. I like the lyrics and they up front and easy to hear. Nice mandolin solo with the dobro in the background. Nice Melody. Sounds like Roger McGuinn. - gabbyhazeband from Fishersville, Virginia on 11Nov2009 Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Lyrics. Jerry Douglas sits in? Traditional folk melody, with perfectly crafted harmonies and lyrics that fit the song very well. Really nice sparkle on the top end of the acoustic and the dobro. Sounds like the folks who did the "Moody Bluegrass" project. Kudos, of the highest order. - Joel94 from Frenchtown, New Jersey on 31Oct2009 Extra Credit: Guitars, Production, Lyrics, Melody. |
