Track of the Day on 2Nov2009 in Americana

Well Done
A real good melody. It got a little old after a while, I would suggest a more substantial bridge, instead of the instrumental which was lackluster.
- ramblinroger from Chicago, Illinois on 5Mar2010

Nice...really nice actually
This is a really good americana song with a catchy pop-twist.It starts out perfect, I know thers nothing
groundbreaking with an a going to d over an e-minor, but you make it sound damn good. The refrain is really catchy. The drums are absolute perfect for this song and the base as well, cool and laid-back, I like that.Guitars sounds awesome and the baritone guitar solo at 2.01 are close to perfect.Love that guitar, really. Have to buy one myself...have to get it today, damn I need a guitarsound like that.
Vocals are really good but maybe I think that some words could be more articulated, its like the singer "swallows" some words sometimes..you know a little like Emmelou Harris..not THAT much though...thats the only maybe negative I have to say.(I almost felt obligated to write something negative..I listened and I listened...and after the third time, I found something I could pick on:-)
You inspired me. To get a new guitar and write a catchy song. Good jobb! And this its what is all about isn't it? to inspire.
Thanks! And good luck!

Come along "Worthy"?
Lyrics were okay. I'm not sure I understand the chorus, so that can't be good. The melody sounds familiar. Very familiar in fact. To me, you sound like the Monkees doing Americana. I did enjoy the song, I just really hate when I don't understand the chorus. It makes the rest of the song not make sense.
- choclatethunder from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 27Feb2010

Potential
This song is missing something. Not sure what it is. It has potential if you could fill it out some more. The lyrics are okay, but do meander. The melody is great. Sounds a bit like Wilco.
- worldatwar from Lawrence, Kansas on 15Feb2010

Solid effort
Not sure why, but in a strange way, I hear the Beatles. A little Bodeans too. The lyrics are great
, really conveys a nice mood. The melody is also strong. Good job.
- dannydutch from Wilkesboro, North Carolina on 13Feb2010

High and low...
I like the chord chang
es in the verse. The vocalist has an infectious timbre, and I enjoy the story of the lyrics. Chorus has a strong hook, and the changes keep the song from treading into monotony. It has a tinge of celtic feel and a nice melodic simplicity. Very nice...

Good feel, tight work
Production works well, i
nstrumentation as well. I like the chord structure. melody is pretty good. lyrics don't jump out, they aren't bad at all, but nothing really more than average. good guitar work, vocalist does a pretty good job. overall the sound is enjoyable, reminds me a little of Dave Edmunds et al stuff.
- paulmd from Germany on 28Jan2010

Great feel
I like the call to come go
with you. I like the feel of the music much like Lost Dogs who I really like! Melody is great has Substance. And just asking not for a short walk but through it all is the best question to ask cause no one wants a fairweather friend.

High and low
I love the laid back production and its well recorded. Good singer delivering a well performed son
g. All musicians doing their part without getting in each others way. Well done.

Very cool invitation
I like the minor chord that you used as you pass through to the next one. It gives it a different sorta vibe a
nd that's nice. Your voice is cool and the song is cool as well. I dig the hook and that's really good because that is what most people will remember about any song. The drummer (who plays well) and the organ player are a bit lost in the mix, but what they're doing supports the lead vocal very well. You sound a little bit like Tom Petty and the lyrics are good. I think the melody is strongest on the hook (as it should be) and that's why this song has some potential. For me, as professional musician who has played with the best...I get a bit bored with the tonic chord being struck over and over, and I want you to have more dynamics as well, but I think the song has commercial value. The simple solo in the middle is so well complimented by the subtle keys....I like that. The harmonies are good and helped to set the hook apart from the verses and this song could become a hit with the right producer.
- James_Morris_Pearson1 from Darby, Montana on 28Dec2009

Nice but too repetitive.
This is a neat song. Easy to feel the groove on this one with a good solid rhythm and sing along melody. I'd have to say it lacks any real variation though, other than the brief guitar interlude which was ok but kinda bland. The verse and chorus parts don't stand out from each other. I do like the lyrics but would like to hear more of the verse and less of the repetitive chorus. All in all well done. Oh and I really like the singer's voice to, it fits the mood well.

good folk rock song
The mix is great, any time you can use vibrato on anything it's a good thing. production's good, lyrically it's pretty cut and dry but the song as a whole is really good.

Some Tom Petty
Beautifully crafted song that's reminiscent of Tom Petty.

Very nice chord progression that sets the mood in the song.

Vocals are very well performed, backing vocals are spot on.

The tremelo guitar and Wurlitzer/Fender Rhodes earn extra credits as far as I'm concerned.

Actually a very nice sing-a-long tune. Love it ! Good luck !

good melody
The lyrics are a little hard to understand in some places. I don't know what this song is about for sure. I do like the melody though. The instruments sound pretty good too. I don't know who you sound like. you may have a sound all your own.
- ldorden from Saint Jo, Texas on 16Dec2009

review
good americana song. it embodies what the genre is supposed to be. great musicianship all around, great priduction
, good soulful vox, meaningful lyrics... good song.
- fiveslumprecord from Ft. Worth, Texas on 12Dec2009

I really like this
Right from the start. Good feel/mood/tempo. The lyrics and the melody are great and the vocal performance is t
errific, lotsa character but clear and appealing.
I feel like somewhere between Jackson Brown and Bryan Adams, maybe a little Bruce & E street in there too. I like the writing style of the lyrics. Good arrangement. The guitar work is good, the synth work is a little to loud in the mix in my opinion, but I like that rougher sound. Anyway- a real well written and performed Americana flavored pop song.

Wendy
I like the opening imagery....
'long black hair and a flower of every color'- beautiful. The second verse is also lyrically very beautiful.

The chorus is good - it doesn't feel as unique as the verses but it's sweet.

Love the 'Cash-like' guitar solo at 2:02. Gives the track an awesome 'Highway men' feel.
- gotstago from Berkeley, California on 19Nov2009

Nice chord progression
I like the harmony of the song, and the chord progressions.
The melodies are all nice, as the lead vocal ones like the guitar solos.
I lke too the arrangment, mainly the electric guitars and the way they are mixed.
The chorus has hook. I think I would listen again.

HIgh and Low
Neatly packaged bringing all the right elements (simple but memorable lyrics, great chorus, beautifully arranged and nice solo work) together for an exemplary americana song. If it sounds easy
and true good work went into it and it shows.

Nice melody
Nice melody. The lyrics are fine. Well written piece all around. I guess I hear a little Tom Petty, and Ge
orge Harrison.

Wendy
Great production and playing all around. It would be a great transition track on a bruce springstein album. It also has room for play when performed live. Good job!

High and Low
Nice fix. Vocal is right up front and very well done. Touch of harmony is nice. I think the song would be even better if more harmony was used and was a bit louder. Like the melody. Lead break is good, but I would love to hear a electric violin during the lead break. Nice job. Enjoyed the listen.

Moody
A moody and cool song. Great instrumentation and performance. I especially love the part where it takes a minor note... great detail.
- Vestergaard from Aarhus, Denmark on 4Nov2009

Retro cool....
Great simple and memorable melody and "classic" lyrics- timeless and evocative.

Not sure who you sound like- touches of Dire Straits, Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention...

Nice organ bed underneath- mix is excellent. Cool surf guitar lead.

Really fine stuff.
